Dry ice can be a very serious hazard in a small space that isn't well-ventilated. As dry ice melts, it turns into carbon dioxide gas. In a small space, this gas can build up. If enough carbon dioxide gas is present, a person can become unconscious, and in some cases, die.

not poisonous but can suffocate you. Sad that it's happened more than you think. Some years back I saw a video In which some couple did the same, recorded the whole thing where the husband lost his life. sad people don't have common sense these days.

When dry ice melts it turns into carbon dioxide gas and has nothing to do with any reaction by putting it into water. Using that amount of dry ice indoors with poor ventilation means the people suffocated to death. A little knowledge can go a long way, I learned this in junior high school.
