At engine idle RPM approximately 900 give or take the oil shear inside the torque converter is not great enough to increase temperature of transmission fluid but very, very little do to being approximately 900 RPM below torque converter multiplying stage,As for engagement into park always stop the vehicle completely with the brake continue to hold the brake until engaging is complete release brake slowly,on a hill engage parking brake before releasing the foot brake!!!

From being a mechanic my whole life i can say, this guy is an idiot. putting the car in neutral out a light Will help the transmission fluid temperature drop but lights aren't long enough to be of any significance. as far as putting in park at a red light that is just useless and will not hurt the car at all. Cars and trucks are in park most of the time anyways.
